How to browse Internet on TCL Smart TV (Roku and Android) [Guide]

Rebecca Montgomery 6 min read

The TCL Roku TV and TCL Android TV are both great smart TVs, which you can control with any web browser on your phone. By using the Google TV app, you can browse the internet on your phone and use it as a remote control to control the TV’s TV menu, thus making it a great alternative to “Smart Hub” TVs.

Recently I changed to TCL Smart TV.  The TV is really good at doing the most things, but I hate its remote control.  This is because it’s not good at browsing Internet.  How to browse Internet on TCL Smart TV (Roku and Android) [Guide]

This post is meant to help out my fellow Txepc.org members, who happen to own TCL (Roku) devices or any Android devices (like me) that is used to browse the internet on your TV.

Smart TVs have improved everyone’s life significantly. From being able to just watch cable networks to now being able to watch virtually anything and anything on TV without having to have a cable subscription. And, since Smart TVs offer capabilities and display outputs that were previously unimaginable, the watching experience is ideal. These OSs make the TV smarter, whether it’s RokuOS, TVOS, or Android TV OS. While the TV may be used for practically anything, let’s look at how to utilize the TCL Smart TV to surf the Internet.

RokuOS and Android OS are available on TCL Smart TVs. TCL televisions have grown popular due to the low price point and the amenities that come with them. Of course, other TV manufacturers offer similar budget-friendly prices, but TCL outperforms them in a number of areas.

Now you must keep in mind that, although there are many applications accessible for you to use and watch information, Smart TVs do not have a built-in web browser, which is odd. Some TVs include a built-in browser, although the vast majority do not. Continue reading to learn how to use a TCL Smart TV to surf the internet.

What is the best way to use the internet on a TCL Smart TV?

We’ll look at both TCL Smart TVs since they come with two distinct operating systems, RokuOS and Android TV.

RokuOS TVs are intended to make things simple and straightforward for the user. On your Roku TV, you can add a number of channels for free, but you can’t add a web browser. Also, a web browser will not be able to be installed or sideloaded onto the TV. There is, however, a method to utilize screen mirroring or screen casting to surf the internet on your large screen TCL Roku TV. It makes no difference whether you have an Android or an iOS device. All contemporary gadgets allow you to cast your screen.

When you want to share or show a movie, picture, or anything else on the large screen, screen casting comes in handy. This technique requires that both devices be linked to the same network and does away with the need for extra connections. However, you must utilize the device from which you are casting, such as a smartphone or a computer, for input and control of the screen. You may learn how to cast from any device to a RokuTV, regardless of the TV’s manufacturer, by reading our comprehensive tutorial.

On a TCL Android TV, you can browse the web.

TCL smart TVs now come with Google’s Android TV operating system. This includes the whole Google Play Store as well as its suite of applications intended for usage on Android TVs. Now, you could argue that because it’s a Google OS, it should come with a pre-installed web browser like Google Chrome, right? Wrong! The lack of pre-installed web browsers on Android TV devices is due to the fact that there is an app for virtually anything. Do you want to watch Netflix or listen to Spotify music? That is something for which there is an app.

Although the Google Play Store has a large number of applications for TV, there are just a few web browsers available. This is because browsers aren’t always designed to operate with input from the D-pad on the remote, and moving around the browser may be a pain. With that stated, you may just download a few browsers from the Play Store.

Mozilla Firefox and JioPages are two of the finest web browsers available. While Firefox is a fantastic browser, you’ll have to sideload the program to obtain it. JioPages is one of the most popular web browsers on Android TV. It works well and is completely free to use. Even if the app is only available in India, you could always use a VPN to install it on your Android TV.

Apps that may be installed on the side

Because it’s an Android TV operating system, you can simply sideload applications to your TV. Simply connect your USB drive to your TV after downloading the program from a PC. Aside from that, cloud storage applications may be used by uploading the APK file to the cloud drive and then downloading it to your Android TV. If you’re a more experienced user with access to a PC, you can also utilize the ADB technique to sideload applications. Yes, there are four methods to have the web browser of your choice installed on your television.
